ummer, with its bright days, outdoor meals, toasts among friends, and a desire for lighthearted yet genuine moments, is the season when the pleasure of wine becomes more spontaneous, tied to the warmth of good company and the beauty of a shared landscape. In this setting, the wines of Monferrato, ranging from Barbera d’Asti DOCG to Grignolino d’Asti DOC and Piemonte DOC Rosato, prove to be ideal companions: fresh, versatile, and convivial. These are wines that speak of a generous and passionate land, yet know how to express the language of today, made of taste, simplicity, and quality.

“The appellations of the Barbera d’Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium represent a model of balance between tradition and innovation. As a Consortium, we believe that true modernity lies in the ability to offer wines that are versatile, distinctive, and aligned with the evolving needs of consumers,” says Vitaliano Maccario, President of the Barbera d’Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium. “Barbera d’Asti DOCG, Grignolino d’Asti DOC, and Piemonte DOC Rosato, to name just a few, speak a contemporary language: they are authentic, adaptable wines that suit changing seasons, lifestyles, and habits, all while staying true to their identity. The real strength of Monferrato wines lies exactly here: in being naturally contemporary, not by chasing trends, but by offering real answers to consumers who are increasingly attentive to quality, drinkability, and the value of the wines they choose.”
Fresh and vibrant, Barbera d’Asti DOCG shows remarkable versatility even in the warmer months. Served at 14–16°C, it offers a dynamic, fruit-driven profile with notes of cherry, blackberry, sweet spices, and a characteristic acidity that brings liveliness to the palate. Ideal for summer evenings, chilled Barbera d’Asti embodies a new, more contemporary and accessible style of conviviality, without compromising on quality. It’s a red wine that blends tradition and modern taste, appealing to curious, conscious consumers who appreciate excellence even in summer.
Grignolino d’Asti DOC, one of Piedmont’s historic varietals, is native to the area between Asti and Casale Monferrato. Light yet complex, it’s best served at 12–14°C, a temperature that enhances its fruity, forest-floor notes and typical white pepper nuances, revealing its unexpectedly modern appeal. Grignolino defies conventions, finding renewed energy in a more relaxed, everyday style of wine drinking, while still expressing the depth of Monferrato with a contemporary voice.
Piemonte DOC Rosato ranges in color from pale pink to cherry-red, with delicate floral and fruity aromas. On the palate, it is fresh, dry, soft, and well-balanced, with bright acidity and minerality. Made from typical Monferrato grapes, such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa, Nebbiolo, Croatina, Cortese, and Chardonnay, it delivers notes of red fruit, fresh flowers, and sometimes wisteria. Served at 10–12°C, it’s perfect as an aperitif or for seaside summer evenings.
